Acadia National Park – Carriage Trails

The carriage trail to Jordan Pond winds back into the forest (Photo taken August 12, 2012).

Acadia has 45 miles of carriage trails, which is a wonderful way to explore the park. While the trails are open to horses (with some exceptions) & bicyclists, I think the best method is to simply walk at your own pace. I’ve been to Acadia many times, & I don’t think I’ve walked all of them yet!

The paths are designed to follow the land, so that they’ll lead you to incredible views. Many of these areas can only be accessed from the carriage paths. You never know what you’ll find!
