Acadia National Park – Thunder Hole

The waves crash against the rocks (Photo taken August 12, 2012).
Thunder Hole is one of the most popular attractions in Acadia. As the tide comes in, some of it will shoot into the Hole, sounding a lot like thunder. Of course, the amazing rocky cliffs look good at any time of day…

If you do decide to try to get there for high tide, get there early. It gets packed pretty quickly. On the other hand, you can avoid the crowds if you decide to go before high tide hits. You’ll have more space to yourself, plus you’ll still get shots of water crashing against the rocks.
